Thanks to advances in dental technology, replacing your missing teeth with comfortable, natural-looking dentures is easier than ever. While dental implants and bridges are effective in teeth replacement, dentures remain a tried and tested solution for missing teeth. A Dental & Denture places high-quality dentures to patients in and around Seattle, Washington. Dentures placed by Ms. Angelica Summer and his team rebuild beautiful smiles while enabling patients to eat and speak confidently.Â
Dentures are artificial dental appliances designed to rest on the gums to cover the jawbone. A denture comprises prosthetic teeth mounted on a gum-colored base. Dentures are an economical, quick, and minimally invasive solution for missing teeth.
Want to replace your missing teeth with dentures? Here’s what you need to know.
Traditional dentures are secured in the mouth with natural suction and adhesives. Unfortunately, these mechanisms aren’t foolproof, and dentures may become unstable and uncomfortable. Denture stabilization is a technique that improves the fit and stability of dentures by using dental implants as anchor points.
Dental implants are small titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone. Over time, they bond with the bone, providing a stable foundation for the denture to attach securely. Denture stabilization reduces movement, improves chewing efficiency, and enhances comfort by distributing bite force evenly across the implants.
Caring for your dentures is essential for ensuring your restorations last long and keep looking their best. But how are dentures maintained? It’s easy. Clean your dentures with a soft-bristled toothbrush and denture cleaner every time you remove them. Don’t sleep with your removable dentures. Instead, place them overnight in clean water or denture solution to avoid warping and gum irritations. Remember to clean your gums and remaining teeth before wearing back your dentures. Implant-supported dentures are permanent, so they are brushed and flossed like natural teeth.
Regardless of the type of denture, all dentures need routine check-ups by the dentist. During these dental exams, we professionally clean your restoration to remove surface stains and built-in plaque. We also inspect and adjust your dentures to ensure your restorations fit stably and comfortably.
Dentures are known as “false teeth,” but that doesn’t mean they should look unnatural. Modern dentures are crafted with materials that closely resemble the natural characteristics of your teeth. This approach ensures that dentures don’t have an artificial or “too perfect” look, which could make them noticeable. Our dentures don’t just replace your teeth— they give you a confident smile that blends seamlessly with your facial features and expressions.
Many dental insurance plans cover dentures essential to restoring oral health and function for those missing teeth. However, coverage details vary widely. Some plans cover a portion of the cost, while others might cover the entire procedure, depending on factors like the type of denture (full or partial) and the materials used. Our office is committed to helping you get the most out of your dental insurance by thoroughly reviewing your plan to understand what’s covered. We also help you to file your claims to maximize your benefits while minimizing out-of-pocket expenses.
