Dentures are created with durable materials that withstand the everyday rigors of chewing and grinding. However, this doesn’t mean dentures are indestructible. Here are some common reasons why your dentures can break.Â
A broken or cracked denture can feel stressful, but acting quickly and carefully can prevent further damage and discomfort. If your dentures are damaged, remove them immediately—continuing to wear them may cause gum irritation or worsen the break.
Place your restorations in a secure container filled with water or denture solution to keep them moist. Letting them dry out can make repairs more difficult. While it might be tempting to try a DIY fix, it’s best to avoid home repairs; improper handling can cause more harm and complicate professional restoration. For the best outcome, contact your dentist as soon as possible for expert evaluation and repair.
