Losing a tooth can affect your confidence, speech, and oral health. Dental implants have become the gold standard in Seattle, Washington, if you’re searching for a reliable, long-term solution to restore your smile. At A Dental & Denture, we understand that choosing the right tooth replacement is a big decision. To help you feel informed and confident, we’ve answered some of the most frequently asked questions about dental implants in Seattle.
Dental implants offer a permanent, natural-feeling replacement because they integrate directly with your jawbone. Unlike dentures or bridges that rest on the gums or rely on neighboring teeth for support, implants act like artificial tooth roots. This fusion with the bone creates a stable foundation for your new tooth, preventing shifting and providing durability that can last a lifetime with proper care. Implants are the best option for Seattle residents looking for a long-lasting solution that feels and functions like real teeth.
Good candidates for dental implants generally have healthy gums, sufficient jawbone density, and are committed to maintaining good oral hygiene. If you have missing teeth, wear dentures, or struggle with discomfort from bridges, implants could be right for you. During your consultation at A Dental & Denture, our experts will evaluate your dental and medical history, examine your mouth, and may recommend imaging tests to determine if your jawbone can support implants. Even if you’ve experienced bone loss, advanced procedures like bone grafting may make implants possible.
Yes, one of the significant benefits of dental implants is their ability to preserve jawbone health. When you lose a tooth, the underlying bone can deteriorate over time due to a lack of stimulation. Dental implants mimic natural tooth roots and stimulate the jawbone during chewing, which helps maintain bone density and prevent the sunken facial appearance that can occur with bone loss. This makes implants a smart choice for preserving both function and facial structure.
The timeline for dental implants varies depending on individual factors like oral health and whether bone grafting is necessary. Typically, the process takes several months, starting with a consultation and implant placement surgery. After the implantย is placed, there is a healing period of three to six months, allowing the implant to fuse with the jawboneโa process called osseointegration. Once healed, a custom-made crown is attached to the implant. Our Dental & Denture team will guide you throughย every step, providing clear expectations for your personal treatment plan.
